The Board of The British Land Company PLC is pleased to announce the appointment of two new non-executive directors with effect from 1st September 2008. They are Aubrey Adams, formerly Chief Executive of Savills and John Gildersleeve, Chairman of Carphone Warehouse Group.

British Land also announces that Sir David Michels will be standing down as a Non-executive Director at this year's Annual General Meeting on 11th July. Following Sir David's departure, Robert Swannell will take the role of Senior Independent Non-executive Director and Lord Turnbull will be appointed as Chairman of the Remuneration Committee. In addition, Mr Adams will join the Audit Committee and Mr Gildersleeve will join the Remuneration Committee.

We are very pleased that Robert Swannell has agreed to take on the role of Senior Independent Non-executive Director in addition to his existing role as Chairman of the Audit Committee and that Lord Turnbull will become Remuneration Committee Chairman.”
